As the popularity of tourism in Natz-Schabs continues to grow, so does the need for modern and functional spaces that cater to both locals and visitors alike. In response to this demand, the former Putzerhof, once a disjointed collection of extensions, has been meticulously renovated and redesigned to create a harmonious blend of restaurants, breweries, and hotels. This remarkable transformation is a testament to the power of innovative architectural design in the world of interiors and architecture.
The architects behind this project faced the challenge of conceptualizing a coherent building design while minimizing interventions to the existing structure. Their solution was the addition of a graphic building structure made of fair-faced concrete, placed at the front of the original building. This new element serves as the focal point of the design and is made even more striking by linear steel constructions.
The entrance to the renovated Putzerhof is both inviting and functional, with stairs and a ramp subtracted from the concrete element. The tall wall plate, which is part of this structure, serves as an outdoor counter and provides shelter for the beer garden located behind it.
The ground floor of the building has been redesigned to stand out from the rest of the structure, using similar materials and elements to create a cohesive overall design. Large windows and clear lines blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, while the interior remains simple and functional. Wood, loden, and metal have been used to create a spacious, light, and bright atmosphere.
In a nod to the building’s history, the parlors have been preserved and colored in neutral shades. Additionally, well-conceived color concepts have been employed to evaluate and enhance the existing sanitary rooms. The different areas of the building follow a deliberate sequence: entrance, brewery, bar, reception, and dining room. Furniture elements, textures, and materials connect these distinct parts, creating a seamless flow throughout the space.
